900 Airport Rd
Offered for the first time in over 50 years, this is a rare opportunity to purchase one of Santa Ynez Airport’s original vintage airplane hangars for personal aircraft storage or potential redevelopment. The offering includes ownership of the hangar building and the associated ground-leasehold interest, not the underlying land, subject to lease terms and required transfer approval.
Keep its vintage character and purchase as-is, or explore replacing it with a modern hangar tailored to your aircraft and storage needs.
Airport Authority Board representatives have expressed support in principle for improvements, although any proposed redevelopment, including a possible loft, remains subject to feasibility, neighboring hangar owner review, final Board approval, and all required permits.
The hangar currently has no electrical service or septic system. Solar lighting or a solar-charged battery and inverter system may offer an electrical alternative, subject to buyer verification and applicable approvals. A small triangular area behind the pad has been identified as a potential septic location, subject to further evaluation. Redevelopment may also require relocation of an irrigation pipe crossing the pad, which Board representatives indicated they are open to considering through the applicable neighbor and Board approval process.
Current ground rent is reported at approximately $750 per year. Redevelopment with an expanded building footprint would require a lease amendment and increased rent based on the new billable building area ±$2,500 per year, with the calculation and final terms to be confirmed with the Airport Authority.
