The number of available retail storefronts on State Street has declined, according to Radius Commercial Real Estate [2nd Quarter Report].
Athletic lifestyle store Vuori signed a long-term lease at 833 State St., at the site of the former Wendy Foster storefront.
“It’s a welcome site having this highly visible corner location filled by the popular performance brand, which fits well with the Santa Barbara lifestyle,” according to Radius’ second-quarter report.
The company also noted that the downtown food scene has picked up momentum, with Taza Mediterranean Street Kitchen opening at 413 State St. Broad Street Oyster Co. expanded from its small seating area into the former Modern Times Bar and Patio at 418 State St.
Satellite, Sama Sama and the Good Lion are offering live music on Tuesdays, according to Radius, bringing large crowds downtown. All had large crowds on a Tuesday night with DJs and bands creating a lively atmosphere along the closed street.
The 900 block continues to experience limited progress with nine vacancies. Two commercial buildings at 1019 State St. and 1027 State St. have sold.
